Wie erging es Ihnen mit dem Jahresanfang? Hatten Sie gute Vorsätze oder begannen sogar schon, diese in die Tat umzusetzen?
Wir sind mitten in der Finalisierung der diesjährigen Programmgestaltung. Es wird viel um Wandel, neue Narrative und Resilienz gehen. Im Zentrum wird die tatkräftige Umsetzung von Vorhaben und Ideen stehen.
Zusammen mit unserer Partnerin, der Stiftung für Kunst, Kultur und Geschichte (SKKG) in Winterthur stellen wir im März unseren neuen Kurator für „Das relevante Museum 2022“ vor. Bleiben Sie gespannt.
Ein bisschen umplanen mussten wir ebenfalls schon gemeinsam, denn vorgesehen war, die innovativen Museumsteams parallel in die Kunsthalle Bremen und in das Stadtmuseum Aarau zu einem hybriden Neujahrsempfang einzuladen. Beide Museen sind Partner im Programm, öffneten ihr Haus und boten ihre Gastfreundschaft für das Netzwerk an.
Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation haben wir auf einen Neujahrsempfang verzichtet.
Einen Blick hinter die Kulissen dieser beiden Häuser wollen wir uns in dieser und der folgenden Ausgabe dennoch nicht nehmen lassen.
Heute richten wir einen „Spotlight“ auf die Kunsthalle Bremen.
New Perceptions. Jugend kuratiert in der Kunsthalle Bremen
Die Kunsthalle Bremen, die sich seit vielen Jahren in einem strategischen Öffnungsprozess befindet, hat sich dazu entschlossen, die Zusammenarbeit mit einer jungen Zielgruppe auf eine neue Stufe zu heben: Nicht mehr gestandene Kuratorinnen und Kuratoren sollen entscheiden, was junge Menschen im Museum attraktiv finden könnten, sondern die Zielgruppe soll im Museum selbst aktiv werden und direkt am Entstehen einer Ausstellung mitarbeiten.
Dazu wurde die Jugendkuratorinnen und -kuratoren-Gruppe „new perceptions“ gegründet. In den kommenden Jahren wird die Gruppe, die sich aus Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen zwischen 13 und 23 Jahren zusammensetzt, von Dina Koper angeleitet, einer Künstlerin und erfahrenen Kunstvermittlerin. Sie arbeiten mit den jeweiligen Kuratorinnen und Kuratoren des Kunsthauses zusammen und lassen dabei ihre Ideen einfließen.
Aufgrund ihrer unterschiedlichen Hintergründe bieten sie eine Vielzahl an Perspektiven an. Das können Blickwinkel sein, die beispielsweise von den Erfahrungen mit der eigenen internationalen Familiengeschichte geprägt sind.
Die erste Ausstellung, die das Ergebnis dieser Arbeit zeigen wird, ist „Jugend heute“, vom 13. Mai bis 10. September 2023, eine Ausstellung von Jugendlichen für Jugendliche.
Darüber hinaus gründen die Jugendkuratorinnen und -kuratoren an der Kunsthalle einen neuen Jugendclub, um ihrer Altersgruppe die Faszination für das Kunsthaus und seine Arbeit näher zu bringen.
Dazu kommunizieren sie in Zukunft unter anderem auch auf einem eigenen Kanal über Instagram (newperceptions.hb).

How did you feel about the new beginning of the year? Did you have any New Year’s resolutions or even started to put them into practice?
We are in the middle of finalising this year's programme. It will be a lot about change, new narratives and resilience. The focus will be on the active implementation of projects and ideas.
Together with our partner, the Foundation for Art, Culture and History (SKKG) in Winterthur, we will present our new curator for "The Relevant Museum 2022" in March. Stay tuned.
We already had to reschedule a bit together, because it was planned to invite the innovative museum teams to a hybrid New Year's reception to the Kunsthalle Bremen and parallel to the City Museum Aarau. Both museums are partners in the programme, opened their house and offered their hospitality to the network.
Due to the current situation, we have waived a New Year's reception.
Nevertheless, we want to take a look behind the scenes of these two institutions in this and the following issue.
Today we focus the "spotlight" on the Kunsthalle Bremen.
New Perceptions. Young people curating at Kunsthalle Bremen
The Kunsthalle, which has been undergoing a strategic opening process for many years, has decided to take their collaboration with their young target group to a new level: No longer curators should decide what young people might find attractive in the museum, but the target group should become active in the museum itself and work directly on the creation of an exhibition.
For this purpose, the young curator group "new perceptions" was founded. In the coming years, teenagers and young adults in the age between 13 and 23 will be guided by Dina Koper, an artist and experienced arts education facilitator. They work together with the respective curators of the Kunsthalle and incorporate their ideas.
Due to their different backgrounds, they offer a variety of perceptions.
These can be perspectives that are shaped, for example, by the experiences with their own international family history.
The first exhibition, that will show the result of this process, is "Youth Today", from 13th May to 10th September 2023, an exhibition by young people for young people.
In addition, the young curators are founding a new youth club at the Kunsthalle to bring their age group closer to the fascination of the art museum and its work.
In the future, they will also communicate on their own channel via Instagram (newperceptions.hb).
